Knitting Almost Finished

I just took this off the needles. It needs threads woven in and blocked. It's a pattern from Kelly Herdrich called In Threes. It's a very easy knit and I wanted to try it out to see how long it would take to knit. Took about 3 evenings watching tv. I used Cascade 220 Superwash color 841 called Moss. It's a much prettier color than the picture shows.
I'm going to make one for my almost 2 yr old Great Granddaughter and the 3yr old Great Granddaughter. This will be posted over at Patchwork Times check out her site to see the other knitted projects.

Squeaker Reclaiming his territory and Design Wall Monday

A couple of days ago I caught Lucy up on the cat tree. Until the last few weeks the only cat to climb the stand was Squeak. Then Lucy started sitting on the first perch. Then one day she was on the second one. A couple of days ago I looked up and she was on the top one just quietly enjoying herself.

Squeaker was in the sunroom for a time out. I wish I'd had my camera ready when he saw Lucy up on what he considers to be his Cat Tree. His face registered such disbelief.  He wasted no time climbing up there to claim his territory. He really wasn't happy about someone else in what he considers to be his space.
I've managed to get some sewing done and a bit of knitting. I've been working on a Scrappy Mini Trips quilt you can find the pattern here Quiltville . Unlike Bonnie I didn't plan where to sew the strips I just put them together at random. It's fine with me I'm using up 2.5" strips and that was the goal. So far I have 15 blocks done and I think I'll make some more just not sure how many yet.
I have this quilt in the machine, but I am going to have to rip out the quilting because something isn't right and it's a mess. Quilts is still pretty though. It is one done like the Jelly Roll Race on Youtube . That's pretty much what is happening here. What's happening where you are?

On The Needles

Nothing much new on the needles except some progress. Haven't spent as much time knitting as I would like to, but I have made some progress on the Pine Forest Baby Blanket

September start of project:

October addition so far:

So there has been some progress just not what I had hoped to have done. If you want to see how others have been doing check out Patchwork Times

Knitting and Other Happenings

For those of you who knit this helpful tip Ripping Back  was shown on facebook. Since it seems like always have to rip back for one reason or another I'm going to keep it in mind for the next time. I've been knitting a cute little thing called  Lady Londonderry   I'd include a picture but for some reason can't make that happen. If you click on the link it will take you to Ravelry where you can see the item and purchase the pattern if you'd like.  I'm not associated with the designer other than I purchased the pattern to knit. It's an easy knit doing the feather and fan pattern.

I finally have the center of the wedding quilt put together.  I can't get down on the floor and smooth it out nicely, but you get the idea. I don't know if I want to add a narrow border around the center or just add more background to make it queen size. I thought about adding a braid on the top and bottom, but don't know if that would be to much. What do you think?

Knitting

I have been knitting a sweater for myself using the new Lion Brand Amazing yarn. I can tell you that it is amazing, soft, self-striping and a joy to knit with. I'm using the Glacier Bay colorway. My husband even likes it. The colors are soft and muted and I find myself wanting to keep knitting to see what comes next even when I have trouble keeping my eyes open. The picture is what I have done so far. The yarn is 53% wool, 47% acrylic with a 147 yds per skein. They suggest using a size 9 knitting needle, but I like how it felt with a size 8 which is what I'm using for the sweater. I've ordered 3 other colorways to make some shawls with and I may use the size 9 with them. Has anyone else used this yarn and how did you like it?

Spring Home & Garden Show

This weekend is the Home & Garden Show in Twin Falls. This planter was in a nice booth. Everything was made with cedar and very nicely done. We bought a planter box that I am planning on using for strawberries this year. This was a nice idea to be able to plant things without getting down on the ground. Dh says he can probably build me something that will work. I don't do well getting down on the ground anymore.
It was a cold and windy day here in Southern Idaho with touches of snow. Hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow and alittle warmer. I am ready for spring anytime. Well, guess I'll go knit for awhile and see how much I can get done.

The Snow Storm

Well, after all the build up from the weatherman we have about an inch of snow on the ground. It is now a rain snow mix and already starting to melt. Around here it is a relief not to have piles of snow. It would be ideal as far as I'm concerned if it only snowed on the grass and left the roads open. They got a lot more snow in WA than we did here in Rupert.
So today instead of quilting I have played Words With Friends with my sister on Facebook and now I'm knitting dishcloths. I may even get a binding on a quilt this evening while we watch tv. Stay warm I'll be back soon.

On The Needles

I've been working on a knitted baby blanket for no reason other than to try out a new stitch. I really like the look of it and it is a very easy pattern. It's called the Farrow Rib Stitch and if you google it, it is easy to find. The nice thing about this pattern is it looks the same on both sides.
It is a beautiful 40 degree windy day here. There is a mouse in the house and all the older cats have taken turns guarding it's location. Then Squeak comes along and it is a growl and hiss stand off. So most of my day has been spent saving Squeak from being torn limb from limb. I'm beginning to think she will never learn when to back off. Well, I'm off to try and get some sewing done, again, we'll see how long that lasts.
