A different Spring in Western WA

Well this morning around 11am it started to snow and kept it up until about 2pm. By 3pm it was all gone and was cold and windy. This is the latest I have ever seen it snow here. Hope that was the grand finale and we get on to spring I am so ready. Meanwhile, I put the yellow flannel back together so I can quilt the Double Irish Chain Baby quilt and I am working on the Card Tricks blocks getting them squared up. When dinner is ready - soon - I will be teaching my other half the finer points of a game we are addicted to called Sequence Dice. It is a lot of fun if you can find one give it a try.

Blue & Yellow Quilt

Here is a picture of the Double Irish Chain quilt I pieced today as a baby quilt for a customer. I really like it and love the daisy fabric. I also have some of the fabric in yellow and think I will get some in pink. They are so spring like. I'm also putting together a graduation quilt for one of the granddaughter using the daisy fabric and another pattern. This is the Winning Hands quilt pattern. Our temperature is in the upper 30's tonight and reports of snow in Tacoma. At least playing with this fabric makes me feel like spring is on it's way. I'm also looking forward to the Mystery Quilt starting on April 1st at quiltville.com it's sounding like a lot of fun. Will have to save the instructions and make it once I get all my fabrics unpacked. Off to knit for awhile before bed.

The Ides of March

Yesterday was my son's birthday. Funny how I never feel older on my birthday, but feel ancient on my children's birthdays. This has been a good week. Today I went to my knitting group and worked on my sweater for my class. So far I'm pleased with how it is turning out. Also I sold a baby quilt on my etsy site and have orders for two more baby quilts. (Picture at upper right) I also have a couple of quilts to get finished for June Graduations. All this while I finish my Schedule C so we can finish taxes and finish packing up everything not necessary so we can list the house and get this move on the road. I need a temporary clone. Well, back to work hope the clone shows up soon.

Spring is Just Around the Corner

Here it is the 1st of March already. I have finally managed to put my Scrappy Bargello top together. Now it just needs borders. I'm thinking I'll do a 2" white or yellow border and then a 4 or 5" red border with a yellow backing. Will have to see what I can find that appeals to me. What do you think about those choices? What would you do?
Yesterday I went to Sew Expo in Puyallup. It is one of the largest shows in the country and there are a ton of vendors selling, beads, embroidery programs and supplies, some yarn shops, quilting fabrics and anything associated with sewing and quilting, and of course hundreds of people. I met my friend Shirley and we did the show together. I purchased some thread for the longarm and a pattern to make a giant dahlia quilt from Quiltsmart. They have the patterns printed on fusible interfacing. I've always wanted to make one of these quilts but had heard how hard they were to make so never tried one. Quiltsmart says it is easy to do their way so we'll see. Anyone one else make it to sew expo? How good or bad were you?
