Who's Going to HMQS?

This year our guild is the featured guild at the Home Machine Quilter's Show (HMQS) in Salt Lake City. I have entered two of my quilt. The Double Irish Chain quilt I made for my grandson. My quilt second quilt is from the book Quilted Legends of the West and is called White Bear.

When I first made White Bear in the mid 1990's I belonged to a guild in WA. I entered it in the guild show and it won viewer's choice that year. My husband liked the quilt so much I gave it to him for his birthday and it usually hangs in his computer room.

So is anyone going to the show May 9 - 11 in SLC this year?  If so maybe we'll see you there. A friend and I are going down to help hang the show and then we will be going back the last day to pick up some of the guild quilts to bring them back home.  If you plan to be there the 11th let me know maybe we can meet up.

Valuable Information

Just to quickly let you know that this morning I came across a new to me blog called Spare Time (For Sewing) which I have added to my blog list on the right side of the blog. I'm excited to find this site because I have several vintage machines and Susan does also. She has loads of helpful information on the vintage machines. So if you are like me and sometimes need more help than the manuel for your vintage machine gives you check out Spare Time Blog.

Lazy Sunday For Some Here Today

Some of us (Squeak) are having a nap while others of us are quilting. It's a good thing he is taking a nap because even though he tries he is not helpful running the quilting machine.
DH is out on the farm helping to clear last years garden spot so it can be readied for planting this year. Friends of ours own the farm and they do a large garden every year and I think half the county gets food given to them. This is the third year DH has helped with the gardening. The picture shows an old tree in the pasture that blew down in a winter storm a year ago. After they cut the top of it off and made firewood of it they set the bottom back in it's hole and it is showing new growth.

Well, it is time to get back to work on the quilt in the machine. Have a good Sunday.

Sunday Night Dinner

Sunday night we invited some friends over for dinner. We fixed ham, potato salad, deviled eggs and creamed corn. DH steamed veggies to eat during the week and to send home with the company. I also made a coconut pecan pie which is very good and very rich. It all came out really good.  So after the good food we played Euchre before calling it a night.

What I'm Reading

I should probably say what I will start reading tonight on my kindle. I just finished reading a book last night so this is next on my list to read.

Spent some time in the quilt room this afternoon going through scraps and getting them ready to run through BIG MAMA so I can use them as leaders and enders for a quilt while I'm working on the wedding quilt.

Back to Square 1

Here is my Square 1 mystery after step 3.  It's a little hard to see since I took the picture on my bed which has a quilt with yellow in it  on the bed. Today we get clue #4. This has been a nice relaxed myster so far. I haven't been getting anything done this week except working on my Schedule C so we can get the taxes finished. So now maybe I can get some things done. Off to celebrate for an hour or so.
