Get Ready

Okay, I hope you are all ready to play give away with me. The give away will start at midnight tonight Friday the 18th, Mountain time and will run through Friday the 25th at midnight my time (Mountain). The rules are simple:

1. You must have a blog for your entry to count and post about my give away on your blog. All others are welcome to post, but no blog no entry, sorry.

2. Please tell me how long you have been quilting, why you got started and your favorite quilt pattern to make. Anything else you want to mention is fine also. Example: I have been quilting since 1989. In 1990 I got my first quilting machine because I really didn't like quilting on my sewing machine and I didn't like to tie my quilts. When I got the machine DH said, "It's to expensive ($3200.00) for you to have and maybe not use, so I went into to business just so I could have the machine. I discovered I really liked it and I am still in business today. My favorite quilt pattern is the Ohio Star. It's really hard to pick just one.

3. Last but not least have fun.

The first winner will get the signed copy of Bonnie Hunter's new book Scraps & Shirttails II. I'll have a couple of other things also and will post them over the weekend. Winners will be picked by a random number generator.

So if you don't have a blog and really want to be in the running for a chance you have time to get one set up. Like me you may find you enjoy it more than you thought you would.

I'll leave you with a picture of Squeak enjoying her new climbing, scratching stand. She loves to sit on it and watch the action or create her own.

I sort of started quilting about 25 years ago, I made all the blocks for a queen sized Georgia Bonesteel lapquilt, and then pretty much stopped. I still have the blocks all handquilted and ready to go, but still haven't finished it. In between I made tied quilts for the grandkids, and then actually made some pieced quilts about 8 or 9 years ago, which I took to the longarmer. The last 3 or 4 years I have done my own quilts on my Juki, and even though they wouldn't win any awards, they are fun and I enjoy the process. My favorite patterns in the beginning were probably log cabin and star quilts, but now I'm not really sure, I see so many online and love them, it would be hard to pick.

Thanks for having this giveaway, Anita....I'd love to win this book!

I started quilting back in '84...my MIL and I took a Quilt in a Day class from Elanor Burns. It was supposed to be a 'bonding' experience for us....and I think it really gave us something in common. I've been quilting ever since, mostly hand piecing and quilting until about 8 years ago, and have mostly done machine piecing and quilting since then.

I'm a 9-patch girl....love the simplistic beauty of it....and I'm also scrappy scrappy scrappy! I've only made the one planned quilt (with MIL), and from then on it was total scraps! Love that!

Our cat loved to sit on her perch, and swipe at anyone who tried to pet her....it was the only time she'd swipe....otherwise she was lovey dovey. I think it was her little game! Your little Squeak is sweet!

I have been piecing since about 1987 and started hand quilting with my husband's German grandmother. She taught me to cut pieces with scissors and cardboard patterns. WOW, imagine my excitement when I joined a guild and realized there are many easier tools. I did a few smaller projects on the machine, but have learned to machine quilt on my DSM. I love it!!!
I am a scrappy girl, love all the colors. My strong point is picking colors. I am really enjoying the Log cabin-this was the first quilt I made with Grandma.
Quilting allows a person to be free and creative.

Anita,
I will try and post about it on my blog which you can find here:
http://quiltmomsjourney.blogspot.com/

I have been a steady quilter since the summer of 1996 but I had dabbled in quilting since the early 80's. I made my first full size log cabin quilt in 1987.
I am a machine and piecer and quilter all the way and would love to win Bonnie's new book.
Thanks for the chance and I am off to post a quick blog post about it.

Warmest regards from Western Canada,
Anna

I remember my great-grandma letting me sew scraps together when I was a child. I have always enjoyed some form of sewing. About 10 years ago I got the quilting bug and I've stuck with it.
Here's a link to my blog post, thanks for a chance to win

I've been quilting since 1993. I started because our LQS was offering a class and I love quilts. I love to make the Friendship Star. I make scrap quilts for foreign orphanages and the local pregnancy help center.
I blogged about your giveaway at http://salliessampler.blogspot.com/2011/02/scraps-shirtails-ii-giveaway-by-bed-of.html

I have been quilting for for around 15 years. I used Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day book to make my first quilt. My favorite quilt that I made was the Sylvia Bridal Sampler, which took me four months to complete.

Most quilters would call me an old-timer since I began making quilts in 1976 at the age of 23. That was pre rotary-cutters, even! I don't have a favorite quilt block or pattern (though I do dislike anything with hearts) but have made "Yellow Brick Road" pattern a couple times. Thanks for this lovely giveaway and the chance to win.
