GOOD NEWS

Last time I posted I showed pictures of the quilts I had made for graduation gifts. Well, I thought they were lost because they hadn't shown up at their destination. Monday I had planned to go to the post office and file a claim to be reimbursed. This morning my daughter called and said guess what they showed up today. Boy am I relieved. I was really upset thinking those two quilts were who knew where.

Carl is in Idaho talking to people to get some bids on work to be done on our property so we can build once this place sells. While he's there we have made an offer on a 3 acre piece - we should know by the end of July if it is ours. Last week he played in a Texas Hold em game and won a seat to play today for a chance at one of the $10,000.00 seats in the Las Vegas game for a million dollars. It's a little hard to type when your fingers are crossed.

The tree quilt in my last post has been quilted and bound ready for a label. I quilted it using the blowing leaves pattern. It came out very nice. My husband never picks an easy pattern to piece. This is his second quilt so I'm wondering if he will do a third one and how long it will take for that one to be finished. Okay enough for today.

Friday the 13th

Contrary to popular belief Friday the 13th is a good day for me. I purchased a Singer 301 on ebay and today FedEx brought it to my door. This is a picture of my new baby. She sews, needs oil and cleaning. She also came with the book and accessories. Can't wait to piece something on her. The other thing I have been busy with this week is a quilt for my daughter. My husband decided in 1992 that he wanted to make this quilt so he bought the pattern and the material for the top. About 10 years later he got it pieced and finally this week I put the borders on it and made the back. It will get quilted and bound this weekend and in the mail next week. This is his second quilt. One of these days he may make #3. He's said he will make a table for the 301 for me. I hope those of you in the midwest are staying dry and not in the middle of a tornado. It makes our cold rainy spring here in the Northwest seem not so bad- even though I am really ready for the sunshine.

Graduation Quilts

Here it is June already. I have been busy the last week getting two graduation quilts ready to mail. This one of the fans is for Sarah. The blocks are from and exchange in 1991 so I finally get to use them. The other quilt is a Winning Hands quilt for Krysty. It reminds me of spring with the nice clear, crisp colors and the daisy print. The back for Krystys quilt is the green with roses and the back for Sarah's quilt is the black background with the purple/blue roses. I really like both quilts and hope the girls like them as much. So what are you all doing for graduation gifts? Let me know I'll need some ideas for next year.
